4 1/2 years after I was unceremoniously removed from my position as Community Development Director with the City of Fitchburg, a majority of Fitchburg city councillors voted to deny my petition to grant “special employee status” to my part-time position at the Library.  They thought that by not passing it, I would have to leave the Conservation Commission. Actually, it means that I can’t consult for the city.  The Conservation Commission had been granted special employee status (along with the Library Technology Coordinator position) at the previous meeting.  This was a reconsideration of the petition because of the Ward 2 Councillor wanting to vote no because he thinks my position should be filled by an IT employee currently working part time.

Strangely, during the entire meeting, they made constant reference to my not being able to serve on the Conservation Commission if they didn’t pass this.  So they thought it would have a negative impact. But why not pass it?  Is there a downside?  The boss at the Library was there. She had made it clear in a letter that she supported the change.

I have to conclude that Steven Hay and Dean Tran don’t like me. And maybe Angelo Bisol doesn’t either.  Or else he didn’t vote for it because he was confused.
